Last class we found the surface area of spheres, and cones and pyramids.  Today you will explore the forumulas for finding the volumes of these same shapes, or composite shapes.

Things you should be able to do after today:

  • Calculate the volume of a sphere, given the radius or diameter
  • Calculate the volume of a cone, given the radius and height
  • Calculate the volume of a pyramid, given the length, width and height
  • Relate the volumes of a cone to a cylinder, and a pyramid to a rectangular prism fo the same dimensions
  • Determine the volumes of composite shapes
  • Solve for a missing measurement if given the volume
